Set up your
curriculum studio.
Build the home for your ideas. By the end of this lesson, your own ChatGPT Project will know what you're creating and how you want to work.
A named ChatGPT Project, your personal working instructions, a first conversation, and a foundation file you control.
What are you here to make?
You don't need a complete curriculum plan today. Just give your studio enough direction to begin thoughtfully.
Why this matters Specific learners and one clear skill lead to better resources than a broad request to “make a curriculum.” You can change your focus later.
Create your ChatGPT Project.
A Project keeps related chats, files, and instructions together. It will be your workspace. This course site stays separate.
Open ChatGPT in a new tab. In the sidebar, select New project.
Use this name for your Project:
Your portfolio nameChoose any icon and color you like, then create the Project. Don't worry about adding files yet.
Keep it private to start. Don't add identifiable student records or confidential school documents. You won't need to share this Project with the course.
Add your working instructions.
These tell ChatGPT how to help you plan, check and eventually design. You remain the editor and decision-maker.
Inside your Project, open its more-options menu (•••), choose Project settings, and paste the text below into Project instructions.
Enter your portfolio details to generate instructions.
One important detail These instructions define your process, not your final visual look. You'll choose fonts, colors and illustration rules in later lessons.
Have your first conversation.
Open a new chat inside the Project you just created, then paste this starter prompt. It begins with a thoughtful brief rather than rushing into a worksheet.
- It confirms the audience, initial topic and intended resource.
- It asks about the few unknowns that matter most.
- It creates a small instructional brief with assumptions labeled.
- It does not invent curriculum standards or immediately declare a brand style.
Make sure it remembers the right things.
Try this check in a new chat inside the same Project. It's a simple way to see whether the working instructions are available beyond your first conversation.
- It knows your audience, focus and first asset.
- It explains that your design direction is not chosen yet.
- It distinguishes source-backed facts from assumptions.
- It says you review every resource before public or classroom use.
Save your personal setup as a Markdown file. This is yours, even if you stop using the course website.
Your studio has
a place to begin.
You built your own workspace and saved the method. The next lesson will turn your idea into a focused curriculum brief.
Was this easy to do on your own?

A note about instructional quality
ChatGPT can help draft, organize and critique. It cannot replace your professional review of learning objectives, factual accuracy, student needs, accessibility, alignment, or rights to source materials.
